About Eric Deschenes

With over 20 years of experience as a circus teacher, Eric is a Cyr wheel (solo and duo), German wheel, crossed wheel, ultimate wheel, acrobatic ladder, physical preparation and flexibility teacher at Montréal National Circus School (ENC). For many years he coordinated the live Teacher’s program along with its participation in research (CRITAC) at ENC.

He collaborates as a Cyr wheel and physical preparation coach with circus companies such as Cirque du Soleil, Cirque Éloise, Barely Methodical Troupe...

Some of his students have won medals in international circus festivals such as Festival de Cirque de Demain in Paris (France), Idol Festival in Moscow (Russia), Young stage in Basel (Switzerland), Wuqiao International Circus Festival (China)…

For 9 years, he was a member of the technical committee of the International wheel gymnastics federation (IRV) as Cyr wheel specialist (Development, competition rules and difficulty catalogue). He also is a judge and a judge formator for national and international Cyr wheel and German wheel events.

He also has a private practice providing wheel classes to individuals of all levels and group workshops in events like Cyr wheel international pro camp in Taunusstein (Germany), Big wheel weekend in Chicago, Circus Center and Circus Connections in San Francisco, Akrosphere in Atlanta, Cyrsandbeers in Boulder and Las Vegas, Movement Sanctuary in St-Petersburg and Acrogravity Academy in Miami, Florida (USA)… and collaboration to the making of FEDEC’s Cyr wheel manual in Stockholm (Sweden).

Finally, he developed 3 levels of formation covering the basics to the master level for those interested to perfect their teaching strategies for Cyr wheel and German wheel.
